Mac OS/iPhone: How to stop iPhoto from opening when you plug your iPhone in

At some point in 2014, Apple changed the default behavior that occurs when you plug in your iPhone to recharge or to download images.

iPhoto, a photo organization and minor photo editor program, opens up a window.

If you'd like to disable this default behavior, here's what you can do:

Open iPhoto (if not already open) using Finder --
  Click on Finder.
    > Applications.
      > Do a search for "iPhoto".
        > Click to open the iPhoto main icon.

Once the program is open, go to:
  iPhoto menu.
    > Preferences.
      > General tab.
        > Set connecting camera opens: [No application].
          > Close Preferences.

That should do it.
